Phish and Other Things

This was supposed to be titled something like "Phish Trip Day 1" but since my hotel in South Dakota had crappy wireless (seriously, fuck South Dakota) I am compiling my various travails from the past two days. I don't have much time, so:

1. South Dakota is still the worst state ever. Never, ever go there.
2. I saw a man in a ten-gallon hat.
3. We drove for eight hours before we got out of Montana. It was pretty the whole way.
4. I took advantage of being in Rochester, MN to see Drag Me To Hell, which will probably never come to Helena. Holy crap. Go see it. It's ridiculously scary, hilarious, and has a perfect screenplay. Plus, it's campy enough that you won't get scared walking back to your car at midnight and driving through the unlit Rochester streets to get to your Aunt and Uncle's house.

I am going to see Phish tonight. I think the acronym JIMP pretty much sums that up.

Damn you yogurt man! You were right!

Freaking Stonyfield Farms dude was totally right. I'm currently broke, in debt and unemployed.

But hey, we all have to start somewhere right?

So after a few days at home, I'm already ready to get the hell out of here. I haven't been home for any long stretch of time in so long that I've forgotten how stifling it is being here. First of all, you have to drive everywhere. This is insane because it not only leaves a huge carbon footprint, it makes seeing people really difficult. Secondly, as much as I love my parents, they are driving me insane. As much fun as it may seem, having my parents continually ask me about my future while saying things like "you have to be ready to accept the consequences of being a psych major" REALLY isn't my cup of tea.

But there is good news! Remember how language school didn't give me any aid for the summer? Now they are paying 2/3 of the cost to go. It's still $3000 that I have to shell out, but that's a pretty sweet deal. I'm going to make my final decision on Monday. (Feel free to voice your opinions)

There's also a two year research position at Harvard that I've been looking at. I don't really want to work for two years, but I'm going to apply anyways and see if I can just terminate my employment if/when I go to graduate school.

In other news, I need to find a gym and fast. 4 months of going to the gym will NOT have been in vain.

Wednesday Hump Day

Well I've officially fallen into the not-in-school-waste-away-sadly-by-the-television rut. After seeing Jaime off to the train station this morning I took care of some errands and then accidentally watched most of a "Make Me a Supermodel" Marathon on Bravo. I am getting nervous 1. about the fact that I still need to find part time work for the summer (I called some restaurants in the area and will do the obligatory filling out of the applications tomorrow) and 2. that I don't know anyone in the area and I am faced with bleak prospects for socialization this summer.

But enough moping! Tomorrow I am going to an "Alumni Networking Night" in the city sponsored by my high school. I am going with a couple of friends, and it is the first time I face high school people since prom. We've made a pact that if it is totally useless we will bail and get dinner. Then on Friday, I'm flying back to NC for 12 days to help my mom with some moving in logistics. Though it won't be as fun without my entourage, after finishing college I think another vacation is definitely in order. Feel free to call me if you get bored, I love to talk to all of you.

Most useless thing ever advertised, Best Buy is currently pushing fake rocks with speakers in them for Father's Day. The Slanket/Snuggie has new competition.

Office Space

As in, I don't have any. I went back to work on Monday and found out that I am sharing a cubicle. However, my cubicle-mate hasn't been there the past two days, so it's not really a problem. The main point of this post is that I'm back at work, entering large amounts of data because...well, I'm not really sure why. That is currently my life, aside from the much-video-chatted current social situation. I hope you are all doing more interesting things...

Tidbits from the Weekend

1. Jen! It's a duck! Go get it!
2. SOMALIAN PIRATES!
3. Blatantly Naked!!!!
4. Jaime wanting to steal Idgie
5. Ok I'm out of things....

Miss you all, will write a proper post soon.
